Wow! I see it's been awhile since I posted on my blog...but...I'm back now. Here is my latest "Before & After" project we did (hubby helped, too!)

This was an old 1950's dresser that I think I paid $25 for.

Added the silver handles...lived with that for awhile and then painted the outside only, white...added the bling to the top and wala...instant modern!!

I HAVE A FAMOUS COUSIN!!!

Author, Janis Owens!

I'm probably the only who's been living under a rock and had never heard of her, but several months ago, I discovered a distant cousin--(her multi-Gr GF, Hortenscious Rudd was brother to my Multi-Gr GF Demosthenes Rudd)--we actually found each other out on Ancestry.com. Over the course of several months we shared emails and wierd stories regarding our kin, when Janis very quietly just happened to mentioned that she was an author!! WHAT???? Of course, being the "book slut" that I am, I immediately headed out and got two of her wonderful books and loved, loved them!! Janis is now in the process of introducing her new cookbook called, "The Cracker Cookbook". Now this is not your ordinary, everday, boring cookbook....Oh...nooooo.......(she is a "Rudd" after all!!!) I'll just let your curiosity simmer and highly, highly suggest you go out on amazon or her website: http://www.janisowens.com/ and check it out! Oh...and check out some of her older posts for some hilarious 'body part' stories about our kin!!!!

This is a great ck for beginner cooks or just good ole southern cooking!!! You know...the way people actually cook everyday. There is ALOT of humor in it......Anyway, I just can't tell you enough about it, so check it out!!! And I'm not saying this just because she's my cousin....hubby coveted this cookbook the first 3 weeks we had it and was impressed enough to try several of the recipes!!! That's how simple the cooking recipes are!!!! OK. 10 lbs heavier...thank you, Janis!! haha

Now about her other books.....Her first 3 novels are great, too...My Brother Michael, The Schooling of Claybird Catts and Myra Sims. These books are all based on one dysfunctional family, that I bet a lot of us can relate too, but each book focuses on a different character. You can read them in any order and if any of you out there read My Brother Michael, you will understand my little tidbit to Janis, at the end of this post, about "Waiting on Ira's story!"

Well, after months of emails, we finally had an opportunity to finally meet up at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, a few months ago. We hit it off immediately....(she said she's never met a Rudd cousin she didn't like) and what a hoot of a gal!!! I only regret that we just had a few hours to visit, but hopefully we'll meet up again somewhere down the road. I also had the opportunity to meet another one of my fav, fav authors....Rick Bragg!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him....with Rick, well.....what you see is what you get!!!! My kind of guy. I also met Silas House, who I have not had the opportunity to read his books yet, but he was a very nice guy, too. Nashville wasn't being kind to our fair-weathered authors that day in regard to the weather...cold, rainy, and they had actually had a tornado warning the night before, so I'm just so thankful that we had the opportunity to rub elbows with the author elites!!!!

This is author, Silas House, that I also met at the Festival. I haven't had an opportunity to read any of his books yet, but I've checked them out on his website and look forward to reading them soon! A true Kentucky boy!!! Very nice guy!

Rick Bragg and I....looks like we're having waaay tooo much fun, doesn't it??? What an interesting guy....I could spend hours picking his brain....!!!! Janis teases that this is the best picture she has ever seen of Rick!!!

Oh, and I just found out that I'm going to be Grandmother again!! Yep...this will be number 6!! (number 3 for the daughter, who has 2 girls...think we're hoping for a boy this time around)

We live in the country and have the nicest mailman. One who still goes above and beyond duty and he has informed us that USPS are evaluating their payraises based on how many packages/letters, etc. they pick up from residences. This evalustion lasts until March 15th, so we are trying to help him out there!

Items will be shipped after I receive payment. You pay S&H, which will be calculated after I get your Zip Code. If you want to get an idea yourself, my ZC is 38571.

Most of my items are in very good condition. If there are any chips, cracks or what I consider damage, I will be honest with you, but all sales are final. (Except if they arrive damaged due to my packaging error)

Happy First Birthday, Jensen Sade Casey!!!!

Here is an 'initial' piece made from different elements. The "S" came from an old metal porch rail and the "C" is an old tricycle fender. She can use the "C" to display a picture or maybe baby shoes....

This piece is made from an old meat grease drainer.

Has it really been almost 2 months since I posted a blog?????

We have been feeling under the weather for several weeks now, but I'm finally convinced that I think we're gonna make it.

I promise I will try and do better in the future for more postings more often...bad blogger...shame!

Also, I am toying with the idea of having an online GARAGE SALE sometime in the future....so be on the lookout! It should be lots of fun!! (Thanks to Margo and Mindy for the idea!)

Meanwhile....here's the latest happenings in my junk world.

Grandchild #5 (Grandaughter Jensen Sade Casey), will be celebrating her BIG 1 birthday, February 28th. So....since I'm not your typical Grandmother, you certainly couldn't expect me to give her a 'typical' First BD present, right? Here is the result of 'junkin' fun Grandma wooped up...just for her!

Here are a few pictures of some of my Christmas Trees this year. Over the past years, I usually have 13 trees, but this year I scaled down to 6. This year was also the year of repurpose, recycle and economize.

This is an old bicycle wheel with a light and some ornaments. I've received a lot of comments on this fun chandy!

We went out in the woods and cut this great tree branch...wala...another fun 'Christmas Tree'.....the price was right!!

Hello all. Just making it back after a trip to home...Oklahoma. I had the honor of seeing 4 of my 5 Grandchildren!! OH,,,,and did I mention they are all under the age of 5? But it was a 'grand' time by Grandma for sure. Thought I would share the pics...and if you're reading this....thanks, Bugg.

Oh, how quickly they do grow!

Memories! Memories!

This bowl was made for my sister, who has 3 children. I took a bunch of the kids’ miscellaneous paraphernalia she was throwing out and made her a one-of-a-kind lifetime memory bowl. For those of us whose children have already left the nest and have hind-sight, this is a tribute I hope she will enjoy after her children fly the nest, too!

This is an old jewelry box I repurposed for my niece, Mattison Leighann’s 5th BD. This is actually one of her dress-up shoes, as well as other miscellaneous items that were hers. When she received the box, she kept saying, “Look, I have one of those just like that!”, thinking I had duplicated items that she had. It took her awhile to figure out that everything on this box was hers. She just loves this box and all of her little friends think it is really neat.

Platform Bed Project

The FINAL PRODUCT!

Here is one of our latest projects....a platform bed! This bed was really made in honor of the pugs... All about the pugs!! However, I cannot take credit for this idea. I originally saw something similar to this on the new HGTV show, "Myles of Style" and just fell in love with it. The next few pics show the process. Hope you enjoy.

Here is hubby hanging the headboard. What is NOT in the picture is our neighbor, who had to come over and help lift it. The thing probably weighs 500 lbs! haha

I mosaiced the headboard with river rock. Yes, I laid each piece of rock, one at a time. Hubby is cleaning up and polishing all that beautiful rock!

Bart is waiting for his bed to be made and ready to go! We covered the platform with cork. Nice and soft on the paws...

Pumpkins, Pumpkins!

Here is an old vintage mirror that I have given a new life to. The pumpkins are actually painted onto the mirror with some spanish moss hot-glued around their 'stumps'. I sprayed a light coat of frost spray for effect. New life for an old mirror!

Repurposed Heirloom Piano!

Growing up, my 2 sisters and I , had an old 1940's piano that Mom and Dad bought for us to take our piano lessons on. Over the years, older sister has kept it in her storage building and just recently decided it was time to move it on and move it ...out. So after much sledge hammering and chainsawing, they disassembled what was salvagable and brought it to me to do 'something' with. These 3 pieces are the result of passing on something that has outlived its time, into projects that each of us girls could now have... a piece of our piano memories forever! (p.s...they haven't seen the projects yet!)

Here are a couple of projects JH and I finished up today. These will be going to the shop for sell, so if you're interested, email me!!

This table is made from a box of formica tile samples I picked up at a GS. It has a clear coat glaze finish on the top to make it easy to clean and very kid friendly!!!!!! This is a 1950's style table and would be cool in any room.

I'm getting in the mood for "Fall"...but not just your regular orange, blacks and golds....here is a "Fall" mirror using black and white theme colors. It's different, if you like different! The mirror actually has a "frosted spray" on it. That's why you don't see a reflection. The pumpkins are hand-painted by me. There are dominos, skeleton keys and old bottle toppers for the top half.

So..... you cannot imagine my surprise when she presented ME !!, with this most thoughtful handmade book.... ALL ABOUT ME!

For those of you who do crafting projects, you know the amount of time involved in even the most simple of projects. A lot of work was put into this wonderful book and I just wanted to share it with the world!

She used brown paper sacks for each page.

As a kid, I collected anything turtles. Live ones even! My sister, Vicki and I, passed onto Taylor and her sister, Bailey, the art of catching live turtles, painting their initials on the back of the turtle with fingernail polish and then releasing them. Turtles usually don't stray far from home and it thrills the girls to no end when one of their "turtle pals" shows up again with the initials still painted on his back! This fun little trick back-fired on me, as a kid, when I would hear my Dad loudly expressing words of, say, profanity to me, while out in his much-worked, beloved garden. He would fitfully declare that if I brought in ONE MORE TURTLE, that would eat up his garden....well, you can probably visualize the rest. I would insist I had NOTHING to do with bringing in turtles that could eat up the garden!!!, when alas, there they would sit with beautiful pink fingernail polish initials proudly displayed on their backs...oooops...!!

Yep, this is where we're all from! Most born in Claremore or Pryor, OK. And most of my family are still living in Adair, Pryor and Gore, OK.

If most of you out there aren't familiar with the OSU/OU bedlam rivalry, well.... let it be known that our family stands as divided as the Hatfields and McCoys!! My side is OSU because my husband, daughter and son-in-law are all OSU alumi!!!!

This is my special Christmas page. The kids seem to think I like Christmas...geez, doesn't everyone have 13 Christmas trees? Oh, a quick story about "The Little Red Couch"....when my (older sister Vicki) and I were small, and Christmas money was slim, my Dad and Mom made each of us one of these barbie doll couches from scrap pieces of wood, left-over pieces of velvet and lace. Mine was hot pink and Vicki's was this red one. Well.....over the years, somehow my pink couch disappeared and Vicki still has hers. I have begged for it to no end and she refuses to give it to me....can you imagine? I ask you.....What kind of sister is that?? So...the "Little Red Couch" is a very coveted item in our family. (Taylor and Bailey get to play with it all the time)

What A Day!

Hello everyone.

Well, I just wanted to let you know that I "officially" qualify for THE "dumb blonde" award of the year!!! I have been checking and checking my blog for comments...and have been disappointed everyday....well.....I didn't realize that I needed to click on the "comments" button to read comments!!! Hello???? I don't know what I was thinking but thanks to everyone for the great comments! It's just like Christmas in July!!!

Today has been an eventful day in the Ziemian household. We had to take our pug, Norton Jeter, in for what we were afraid was going to be knee surgery this morning. However, after much sedation, our vet (and good friends Ed and Cindy Higgins) informed us that Jeter Pug has a torn ACL. To those who don't do medical terminology, that's basically a torn ligament on his knee. He actually did this "injury" a year ago when he showing off for Lola, our neighbor's weinie dog. He was running around and around and around and around and then all of a sudden, he looked liked 'Lucky the Three Legged Pug'. We tried to warn him about those 'girls'! Anyway, we are so glad he didn't have to have major surgery. He's still groggy and sleeping but I'll be willing to bet he'll wake up come dinner time...spaghetti!!! yummm

I've been putting off my ETSY shop for now, but might try it a little later down the road. Meanwhile, I have been selling some of my items out on Ebay so you might want to check it out! (I know, I know....this means I have to go out and figure out how to do my Ebay store!!! ) Also, most of the things I post pictures of, on my blog, are for sale, too. Sooooo... feel free to inquire if you would like.

Hello from Tennessee! I love all things junk!!!... chippy....unique....rusty and down right cute. I make most of my "junk items" from "stuff" I find at garage sales, flea markets...and even neighbors who are most anxious to get rid of these wonderful treasures! (Crazy isn't it? lol) I find that the thrill of the hunt is just as much fun as making the product itself! But wait...lest I forget, I would like to give thanks where thanks is due, to my "Junk Hunk" hubby, whom I could not do most of this without!!! I thought I would post a few pictures of some projects I have done. I have some items out on Ebay and I'm hoping that soon I will be able to post sale items directly from my blog. Hope you'll leave comments and say hello...

I am trying to add ETSY to my blog. ETSY is a site that was designed for people just to sell their handmade crafts, vintage or craft items on. Not really like EBAY. You just shop and buy it outright if you want it. I am taking my baby steps with all of this "blogging" stuff but I'll have some pics out there soon!!
